    1. This was the first book I've read by this author and I loved it. I'm looking forward to the rest in the series. The story of Emma and her family struggling with the sudden loss of their parents was insightful and poignant. The story of whom Emma would choose to love and to cherish was moving.

    2. Emma's heart was broken four years ago when her beau Carl decided that he needed to try living in the Amish world. As a school teacher she believes that her pupils may be the closest she will ever come to having her own children. When an unexpected accident takes the lives of her mother and father she learns that an old family friend Thomas has feelings for her and actually talked to her father, but her father thought their age difference was to far apart. Thomas is a quiet widower with two smal [...]

    3. Wow!! I have never read a book that has so much happening in it. Buggy accident, tornado, barn raising, rebellious son coming home, and leaving,a nervous breakdown, a missing child in a snowstorm and that is not even a drop in the bucket. This book has lots of action. An Amish Action Adventure book, truly at time it was a bit overwhelming however, Kelly Irvin does an awesome job of keeping everything straight and tying the story together. This was a great story of learning that just as everyone [...]

    4. LOVE’S JOURNEY HOME by KELLY IRVIN, is a contemporary Amish romance. MS. IRVIN has done a fine job in telling a story about disappointment, hardships, everyday struggles, and second chances. Her characters deal with raising children after the death of a spouse, and all that entails. Gabriel Gless, along with his passel of children, move to Bliss Creek in hopes of escaping the worldly influences of Indiana. Helen Crouch is doing just fine, taking care of her kids and getting by. Gabriel and Hel [...]

    5. it was a sad beginning ended with a good one. I don't like to give spoilers so I don't like to give out details. it's a very good read I couldn't put it down I always said if the book is well written its always to short .is was very good off to Book 2 A heart made new.

    6. At times I found this book a little slow, but overall I enjoyed it a great deal. My only wish was the ending had been a little longer and we saw into their future happiness. Maybe if I am lucky book two will give me what I wanted to see at the end of book one!

    7. Very GoodI really enjoyed reading it was a very interesting read I really enjoyed all the characters I thought the ending was a little sudden it left you in a cliffhanger but overall I thought it was a very good read.

    8. I had the privilege of reading To Love and To Cherish, the first book in The Bliss Creek Amish series by Kelly Irvin. What a great introduction to the Schirack family. When I read an author new to me for the first time, I usually will look to see if there are more books by him or her. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was not the first book that Kelly Irvin had written. She not only writes Amish fiction, but has two books in the Romantic Suspense genre. Those books are: A Deadly Wilder [...]

    9. Emma’s life is changed forever that day as she was walking with her younger sisters to the produce stand. Her parents where killed in a buggy accident. Now her older brother Luke is the head of the family and he and his wife Leah who Emma does not get along with the best move into the family home so they can keep the farm running. To top it off they are worried about there younger brother who does not w [...]

    10. The story begins with Emma Shirack's mother and father's buggy being hit by the truck of a neighbor, Mr. Cramer. Her sister, Katherine, and brother, Luke, witnessed them being thrown from the buggy and dying right before their eyes. Life suddenly changed for the Shirack children. They didn't want to lose their farm and there were younger children that needed care. Emma's older brother, Luke, and his family sold their house and moved in with his seven siblings.Emma's heart was already broken and [...]

    11. There is nothing like starting off a book with a massive tragedy! Wow!! Right from the start we are sucked in to the story of Emma and her family – be warned the tears might start flowing! Emma loses her parents in a terrible accident and is suddenly found in a difficult spot. Her older brother Luke moves in with his wife Leah and helps Emma with the responsibility of caring for her younger siblings and the farm. There are lots of issues when you mix the two families together and it is bumpy r [...]

    12. **I received this book from Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley. I am not required to give a positive review, just an honest one***This is the first book in the Bliss Creek Amish Series*Emma's life has been turned upside down. It all started four years ago when the man she loved left the Amish community for the English life. Finally, four years later her heart has begun its healing process. That is until the unexpected death of her parents occurs. Now her heart is broken yet again.Thomas, [...]

    13. TO LOVE AND TO CHERISH was better than I expected. I am not a fan of Amish themed books, but since I received the book in exchange for a review, I didn’t want to shirk my responsibilities. Emma Shirack feels abandoned once again. Four years earlier Carl, the man she would marry, left her for the Englisch world. Now, the tragic death of her parents leaves her feeling forsaken. Without children of her own, the maternal feeling she has for her brothers and sisters because even more real. Though s [...]

    15. This book begins with a heartbreaking tragedy, where family members watch in horror as a truck slams into their parents buggy. Emma had just been thinking that she wished the twin sisters in her buggy were hers, and now they are all parentless.Their older brother Luke assumes responsibility for the family. He has to sell his house and they all move in together, including his wife Leah and their two sons. There are three older girls in the family, including Emma. Would be hard to imagine who woul [...]

    16. This emotionally charged novel starts out with the unexpected and tragic death of Emma Shirack's parents. This tragedy tests the family over and over and topped with a few other incidents, creates a compelling and heart-tugging story. The Amish way is to forgive, but Emma and other members of her family struggle throughout the story with forgiveness. It is in this one act that they will heal and give them a freedom that they need, but forgiveness is not easily done.I found this whole story mesme [...]

    17. This is my second Amish romance and I think I've realized what I like about them. Honestly, there is so little "traditional" romance that they really read more like general fiction. The romance winds up becoming a secondary plot and the soul searching of the female protagonist (and in this book the male protagonist as well) is the primary focus. The two books I chose in this genre wound up being nice bookends. The Shunning had a protagonist who wasn't sure that she belonged in the Plain world. T [...]

    18. What an amazing story! When Emma Shirack’s parents are killed in an accident, she fears nothing will ever be the same. Her older brother moves back home to care for his brothers and sisters, but Emma just wants a family of her own. Thomas would love to be more than Emma’s friend . . . but after being gone for 4 years, Carl, the boy Emma has always loved, moves back to Bliss Creek and begs Emma to give him another chance. Should she? Will he stay this time? What is he hiding? This series promis [...]

    19. Enjoyed the story-line and the characters in this book very much. Sometimes literature touted as "Christian" can be overwhelmingly sweet, almost saccharine , or at least the resolution of the problems and the problems themselves, seem tame or too easily tied-up with a bow within the page limit. Irvin, however, allowed problems to be much more "problematic" and not easily resolved. There was angst, anger, misunderstandings, sorrow, and characters dealing with heavy issues: life outside the Amish [...]

    20. My heart went out to Emma on the very first page. Such heartache and pain. But after that I had a hard time with all the relatives and trying to figure out who was related to who, and which of the young people mentioned were her siblings and which ones where her nieces and nephews! I spent most of my time scratching my head and trying to figure out which kids belonged with which family. And by the time I had that figured out I was at a bit of a disconnect with the story. Remembering who was who, [...]

    21. This was a great book. There was a lot of tragedy in it though right from the beginning. I enjoyed all the different characters from Thomas to Luke to Leah to Josiah.I only read Amish fiction or inspirational fiction and I would read this book more than once as it was very good. I like how Emma had a choice to make over Carl or Thomas and when the truth came out about Carle realized she had put her life on hold for 4 years waiting on a dream that would never be. I want more from this author!

    22. Kelly Irvin transports us to Amish country to take a peek into the lives of one family whose world is rocked by tragedy. We see Emma as she struggles to do what's right, and discovers that she has feelings for two men. We see her discover just who she is and who she is meant to be. I enjoyed To Love and to Cherish. What I learned: sometimes what seems obvious and natural is not always the best way; and love is expressed in many different forms.***I received this book free for review. The above i [...]

    23. To Love and to Cherishby Kelly IrvinThis book deals with forgiveness as well as other emotions. When we don't forgive others it eats at our happiness.Only God can help us forgive what seems impossible to forgive. There are lessons to be learned by reading this book.Even though the book is complete, I am glad it is the first of a series. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I hope it is not the last!

    24. Family is forced to move in together when the parents are suddenly killed. Lots of conflict both in the house and between Emma and her old boyfriend that left the faith but returned 4 yrs later just as her and Thomas were getting closer.

    25. Nice story. But it ended very abruptly. Also, the picture on the front is not of an Amish person. She is a pilgrim.
