    1. Rite of Passage is one of those books that catches you buy surprise. I love the cover because is so hauntingly portrayed. It catches you and draws you in and screams read me . read me . and that is exactly what I did.In Rite of Passage we meet Courtney Wellington who is a Wiccan Witch. She comes from a long line of witches and is the 40th one. She is destined to marry and do great things. Every women in her family has married their soul mate and done great things so it has been chosen that Court [...]

    2. Kevin Symmons draws in the reader right away. The characters are beautifully developed and don't always follow an expected path. This novel had me turning the pages quickly and kept me guessing right until the very end. Mr. Symmons skillfully engaged historical context with witchcraft in a way that makes the story seem real and completely plausible. Rite of Passage was a page-turner that I would recommend to everyone's not your typical romance paranormal novel, it's so much more!

    3. Just after the end of WWII, there is a worldwide awareness of evil, and the wrongs that humans can do. Even to the point of bringing an end to the world as we know it, with the atomic bomb. With great finesse, the author creates two characters who are both aware of and concerned with the plight facing humans, although their instincts to face these dangers stem from very different places. One traditionally (Harvard) educated man meets one trained in the lore and skills of the Wiccan religion, and [...]

    4. For those who like paranormal romances, but are tired of the anguished courtship between an innocent human and the damned, Rite of Passage will be a breath of fresh air. The book's occult comes in the form of witches--not of the Wizard of Oz or Narnia variety--but noble and very human, following an alternate religion evolved over the centuries, complete with its own rituals and a mission to bring peace to the world. The story takes place in the post-World War II years, in the shadow of the holoca [...]

    5. There are many paranormal books out there. Okay, many is a vast understatement. It takes a uniquely written one to really stand out. I do believe that Kevin V. Symmons has achieved that and more in Rite of Passage. This is a richly developed book that doesn't just tell a story. It gives the readers characters they can visual and relate to. Mr. Symmons has crafted characters that are far from boring and with realistic complexities that will have you unable to put the book down. The plot another wel [...]

    6. I was lucky enough to win a copy of Rite of Passage in a First Reads Giveaway. This novel is a lovely little book; the story is full of cutesy love-at-first-sight romance, which usually isn't my thing, but it was handled really well and the author kept me gripped throughout. There are paranormal elements of witches and spells, which becomes a more crucial part of the novel in the second half; an unexpected portion of tension, drama and a race against time all feature too, making this novel a ver [...]

    7. The literary world is awash with paranormal entries from vampires and warlocks to fierce werewolves. How refreshing to find a literate tale with a lively pace, intelligent plotting, and an engaging heroine who just happens to be a witch. Author Kevin Symmons has recreated the post WWII era and an ageless Wiccan, with a deft touch that both enlivens and educates the reader. The romance is sweet( and unconsummated), but intense emotion still fuels a love story older than time. The twists and turns [...]

    8. This is a powerful romance, with the main point view being Robert McGregor, a young man who has life by the tail. He has a wonderful and talented girl friend and lives a successful life with great promise for the future. Life is going exactly the way he planned. Until he goes to a family reunion where he meets Courtney Wellington, who enchants and mesmerizes him. She tells him she is a witch, but he thinks she is joking until his perfect life is turned upside down and he is drawn into the world [...]

    9. As soon as it hit my kindle, I was totally engrossed in his heroine's "Rite of Passage". Symmons writes a fast moving page turner that you cannot put down until Courtney's fate is sealed. Set in 1947, filled with witchcraft, fine estates, and chivalry that is not dead, Kevin Symmons made my holiday weekend on the beach exciting. I highly recommend this read!

    10. I received this book in a giveaway. I wasn't really sure what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the story. I liked the characters although I think I would've liked to get to know them better. I thought the story moved along at a nice pace, and really kept my interest. All in all a good read. Thank you Kevin!

    11. This was a great story that gave me a much clearer knowledge of a great authors mind as you travel through the story with this young lady you expericence all of her highs and lows and the mysteries that lay in between. A must read for paranormal lovers cant wait to read whats next for this very talented author :]

    12. This is a paranormal romance about witches. There is love at first sight and lots of mystery. There are plenty of unexpected twists to keep you guessing. It gets quite exciting, I just had a bit of trouble connecting with the characters. Maybe it is because Courtney is so mysterious and perfect that she is hard to relate to, and Robbie is so conflicted through most of the book. I had a hard time getting invested in their love story. It is a good story, though. I recommend it for paranormal roman [...]

    13. Kevin craftily brings the reader along with him main characters on a merry chase! The writing is delightful, intriguing and sensual, but leaves enough to the imagination to allow 'less seasoned' readers to enjoy this venture.

    14. GNA I received a free electronic copy of this syfy novel from Netgalley, Kevin V. Symmons, and Wild Rose Press in exchange for an honest review. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me.I thoroughly enjoyed Kevin V. Symmons Out of the Storm, and found this syfy, set in England and the US shortly after WWII and involving witches, etc. to be thoroughly entertaining, as well. This is a novel hard to put down, with characters that are easy to appreciate and a storyline that builds on itself [...]

    15. Reviewed by AllisonBook provided by contest Review originally posted at Romancing the BookReview: Set in the recent years just past WWII, Rite of Passage opens as Robert, a young Harvard Law Student, reaches a picturesque lakeside setting in Maine for a week-long reunion of family friends. He meets and is entranced by Courtney, an English aristocrat who is still in mourning over her mother’s death. Although he has a girlfriend back in Boston, Robert can’t help his attraction to Courtney, and [...]

    16. This book wasn't great - but it was very much OK. I thought the plot was interesting, but it seemed like the beginning of the book was too long and the end too short. Too much time building everything up and then not enough time working it all out. I also thought the actual conversation between Courtney and Robert was a little too forced; it didn't seem like natural conversation of two people flirting or getting to know each other. Maybe forced isn't the right word, but it didn't feel easy. Mayb [...]

    17. This was an ok read set in Maine in the 1940's. Witches , Druids and paranormal behavior abound with a power hungry witch spellbinding the Druids to kill a powerful 20th generation witch for her magic. Seemed to drag early on and then toward the end it finished too fast. For lovers of witch stories it will be liked and appreciated.

    18. I was excited to win this copy from GoodReads Giveaway. I found that the author spent too much time on Courtney and Robert getting to know eachother. Finally in chapter 31 some ativity in story and it was very short lived.
