    1. Fast-paced and original, Stress Test by Richard L. Mabry, M.D grabbed me right away and wouldn’t let go. It was one of those books that I wanted to keep reading. See what happens next. See how things were going to play out.Matt is a great main character. He’s down-to-earth and generally a decent person. The reader shares his disbelief that someone would want to kidnap him – and kill him. While reading, my mind went through all sorts of scenarios that could explain it, but I just couldn’t [...]

    3. 4.4 -- I read this book in less than a day. The suspense started on the second page, so the story grabbed my interest from the start. There wasn't much suspense, but I didn't want to put the book down because it was interesting. I also really liked the main character and his lawyer. This was the first book I've read by Mr. Mabry, but I'll be reading more.

    4. What would you do if while walking to your car after a long night at work, you suddenly found yourself being beaten and thrown in the trunk of your own car? What if you managed to escape only to find yourself waking up in a hospital accused of a murder, you are quite certain you didn't commit? What if all the evidence seemed to point to you and everything you claim had happened, can't be proven?Welcome to the life of Dr. Matt Newman! He was about to begin a new job as assistant professor of surg [...]

    5. Richard Mabry has done it again!! I have yet to read a book by Dr. Mabry that I have not enjoyed!! Dr. Matt Newman is working his way through the world while falling in love with a legal assistant named Jennifer. He wants to marry her and start a life with her but she is wishing he didn't have such long, unpredictable hours. Dr. Newman decides to close up his practice and go into a more laid back physicians role to honor her. He ends up kidnapped, in the back of a car, going who knows where one [...]

    7. From the first paragraph of Stress Test you are placed in the life of Dr. Matt Newman, a surgeon just coming off a long shift. You feel the tiredness, you pull out your car keys in the parking garage, and then attackers grab you from behind and you feel the cracking pain of breaking ribs as they throw you to the concrete floor. "Lets get him in the trunk," says the voice. And they bind Dr. Newman with duct tape and lock him in his own car's trunk. This book does not let up, and you won't put it [...]

    9. ***Don't miss this page turning suspense & romance without coarse language***Retired physician Richard L. Mabry, now popular award winning author, adds Stress Test to his growing list of Christian suspense titles. It’s a narrative of murder, kidnapping and deception with a dash of chaos, confusion and romance. 10. I have all Dr Mabry's books and never hesitate to buy his latest. I'm never disappointed. He writes medical thrillers in the same vein as Robin Cook and Michael Palmer, but without any language and with the wonderful and welcome addition of Christian values.Dr. Matt Newman walks out of the hospital after a busy shift one night and is kidnapped, thrown into the trunk of his car and driven off to be murdered. He manages to escape but wakes up in a hospital with a head injury after emergency surger [...]

    11. When I knew this book was by Dr Mabry, I knew I was going to like it, and he didn't disappoint. Stress Test might be what the main character is experiencing, but you are going to feel the stress while you page turn to get to the answers. What poor Dr Matt Newman experiences in this book, should not happen to anyone. Just when you think things are about to be cleared up and start to get betterey don't! If he were a cat, he would be down to life Number 8. The main question is "why", why are all the [...]

    12. Dr. Matt Newman was making some changes in his profession, little did he know that those changes would get him in some pretty deep, dangerous trouble! His girlfriend was complaining because of his long hours in his private practice, so he decided to teach medicine and have regular hours. But before he ever got a chance to teach his first class, he wasn’t tell, I just can’t tell. If anyone of you are familiar with my reviews, you know that I don’t like to let anything out that will spoil th [...]

    13. A not quite believable medical-legal Christian thriller involving a physician, Matt Newman with really bad luck. (Especially funny for me, as my nephew shares his name). I like the attorney who takes his case although the plot development between the two characters is a bit predictable. Matt's many close calls result in a deepening faith. Will future books contain a future for Matt, his brother the missionary & Sandra, the attorney? I will watch for the continued saga. NOTE - I listened to t [...]

    14. Stress Test captured my attention from the start and wouldn’t let go. It’s the first title I’ve read by Richard Mabry and I’m looking forward to reading more by this talented author in the future. Highly recommended for fans of medical romance and medical suspense who haven’t already had the pleasure of reading it. And yes, I’m a little late to the review party, as this title was released a year ago, and there’s already a more recent title available from this author (Heart Failure) [...]

Matt pulls off an escape, only to sustain a head injury from a fall. When he wakes in the hospital, he finds a homicide detective waiting for him…and a chance to arrest him for murder. In Stress Test, Dr. Matt Newman, has just finished his last day of practice as a general surgeon, before becoming a staff member at the Sou [...]

    21. I’ve read other of Richard Mabry’s books and I’m always left with knowing that I’ve read a great book, one that was fast paced, centered on Christ and just enough suspense to keep me turning page after page (or flipping pages if you read on a Kindle Fire!). Stress Test was, I think, his best so far – this book gripped me from the first page, literally and had me wondering whodunit through the whole thing, just when I thought I knew who was behind things another twist was thrown and I s [...]

He seeks legal assistance from Sandra Murray. Reeling from the kidnapping and trying to recover his life, Matt must try to maintain his innocence despite the evidence stacked against him.Mabry succeeds eluding the reader regarding why Matt has been kidnapped and framed of murder. 24. Dr. Matt Newman was leaving the hospital at 2am after an emergency surgery, woolgathering about the fact that this was his last night at the hospital as he was about to enter the world of academic medicine, when he was roughly pushed to the ground, handcuffed, and shoved into the trunk of his own car. He manages to escape, allude his would-be kidnappers, but falls when retreating from his hiding spot and awakens two days later in the ICU after brain surgery to stop internal bleeding due to the c [...]

    25. Stress Test by Richard L. Mabry, M.D. was a suspenseful and intriguing novel that left me tied to the pages throughout the entire story. The plot was very interesting and included many plot twists, dangerous situations, and medical emergencies. I enjoyed getting an inside look into the interworking of a emergency room from the perspective of a doctor -Matt Newman. Because he had a medical student shadowing him, many of the questions I had about working in a emergency answered in the interactions [...]

    26. Now I see why this book is called Stress Test because it was stressful to read! Richard Mabry had me in suspense the entire book until the very end. I could not stop reading until the mystery was solved and even then, it completely blew me away.In retrospect, I can see the foreshadowing of what happened in the end but I had no clue as I was reading why Dr. Matt Newman was being targeted because there appeared to be no motive. Usually I have some indication but in this case I saw no connection; t [...]

    27. Stress Test is a fast-paced read that I devoured in a single sitting. The novel contains all the elements I most enjoy in a book - scenes of suspense, medical emergencies, and characters ensnared in the criminal justice system. As such, I was thoroughly entertained with this engaging story! The characters are well-developed in a manner appropriate for a supsense book, and the author fleshes them out just enough to allow readers to care about the characters without slowing down the pace of the st [...]

    28. Good book. I've not read many books in this category lately because they are generally quite unwholesome. Yeah, I'm much pickier than I've ever been when it comes to what I read. This book is fast paced, has suspense and thankfully so very little romance, although there is the attraction emotionally and physically between some of the characters. It's not the focus and is mentioned briefly here and there. I think the book is good. Admittedly there is quite a bit of medical terminology and medical [...]

    29. If you have ever read Richard L. Mabry’s books, you know you won’t rest until you read the last word. “Stress Test” is no different. But as he left the hospital on his last night, he was kidnapped. When he tries to flee, he receives a head injury and wakes up in the ICU framed for murder. When [...]
