    1. When I first started reading The Star Prophecy, I had no idea what it was about. I hadn't read the backliner or looked it up online I know, I know - very unusual for me. I generally do some checking and find out what I'm getting into when I agree to do a review. But not this time, for whatever reason. I found myself completely swept away by the premise. What if someone from the New World did try to return to Jerusalem? What obstacles would they face? How would they know where to go? How would t [...]

    2. review for readersfavorite. What can you expect when you have a young man named Enoch who lives in a city called Zarahemla and has a dream of crossing the world to see the Messiah in person?I would have to say that you get an inspiring story full of faith, love and persistence like The Star Prophesy. Enoch is the older sibling of two brothers who live with their uncle Joshua after their parents died. Once his uncle was a faithful man, a teacher, and leader in his religion. Now, after years, he ha [...]

    3. If you are in the mood for a great adventureis is the book for you. Those of you who have read the Book of Mormon would appreciate the history behind this story. Joan Sowards weaves her story of travel from Zarahemla to the old land of Jerusalem in a fun and understandable way. Sword fighting, sailing the seas, love interests and more are all included in the wonderful adventure story.

    4. The Star Prophecy is a tale of faith, love, and adventure that can be read, reread and enjoyed any time of the year. Joan Sowards tells the account of the young Nephite Enoch and his quest to find the newborn Savior as though intimately familiar with the era. She weaves her tale through both the Book of Mormon and the New Testament’s scriptural accounts of Christ’s birth in such a way that, as a reader, I was convinced it could have happened just as she told it. Five Stars for a great read!T [...]

    5. Book Giveaway ends 2/6/11 iamareadernotawriter.I really enjoyed this adventure story. Enoch has heard the prophesy of the birth of Christ and longs to sail back to Jerusalem to see the Messiah. It's been nearly 5 years since Samuel the Lamanite made the prophecy so he knows the birth of Christ is drawing close. Along with a few companions he sets out on an impossible journey across the sea back to Jerusalem. This was a fun book to read. Likable characters and a well written tale that left me beli [...]

    6. I enjoyed reading Joan Soward's "The Star Prophesy" and found it to be entertaining. Anytime a book takes me some place I've never been before, it's a thrill for me! Who would've even thought about the possibility of a small group traveling across the ocean during the time of the birth of the Savior? Joan's novel helped me to imagine what that could have been like, and more importantly, what it must have been like for any fortunate and blessed individual to witness the Savior during his mortal l [...]

    7. I received this book as an Advanced Reading Copy and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found myself truly cading about the characters and loved the premise of the book. Truly original and plausible.Enoch, a resident of Zarahemla, grew up hearing the prophecies of the Savior being born in Jerusalem. The time is drawing near and he is determined to be there to meet the Savior. He sets out for the adventure of a life-time.I can imagine a sequel.???

    8. Loved the idea of having the the "3 Wise Men" be from the Americas! They're journey there was quite intriguing and I thought it was creative how they ended up with gold, frankincense, and myrrh for the Christ-child. The only thing I was wondering about it what happened to Kumeni when he went back! Surely he was killed by King Herod! :(

    9. This is my 3rd published novel and invite all to read it. It is a fun story of young Nephite men who set sail to Jerusalem to find the Christ Child.

    10. This book was an interesting story. I liked that it told the possible story of the three wisemen in that they could have been Nephites that came to see the baby Jesus.
